About

I am the Vice President of News at FOX Sports, where I oversee editorial content, development, and strategy.

You can follow me on Twitter, I guess, @themikefoss. Actually, since we’re here, I should explain the “the.”

I didn’t want it. In 2008, I went to make my Twitter account and some guy in the midwest already claimed @mikefoss (he actually calls me out in his bio now). So I put a “the” at the end. Seemed harmless at the time. Turns out, it was pretty pretentious.

Anyway, prior to joining FOX, I co-created the social news brand For The Win in 2013 for USA TODAY. It became the fastest-growing sports site of all time (comScore) and was named Best Mobile Content Site (Digiday) in 2014. FTW continued to grow in 2015, reaching over 40 million quarterly unique users, with Forbes naming me to their ’30 Under 30′ list that year.

At USA TODAY, I covered two FIFA World Cups, two Olympics, four Super Bowls, and a bunch of days where Tim Tebow said or did something not particularly interesting but people read about it anyway.

I’ve spoken on journalism and the future of digital media many places, though notably at SXSW, the Facebook Sports Media Summit, the Phillip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, the American University School of Communication, and Georgetown and George Mason Universities.

And this is a picture of me.
